Update on polio eradication efforts in Afghanistan for June 2018
- There was one new case of wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1).
- 100 000 children were vaccinated during special campaigns.
- Permanent transit teams and cross-border vaccination teams successfully vaccinated 1.2 million children against polio.

On Tuesday 28 February 2023, ministers and high-level delegates from across the Eastern Mediterranean Region participated in the seventh meeting of the Regional Subcommittee for Polio Eradication and Outbreaks.
At the workshops, women health workers were the chief guests while everyone else had one job: to listen.
